On 1 July 2022 the Presidium of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine approved several important decisions relating to the operations of the ICAC and the UMAC. They include:
- Amendments to the Rules of the ICAC and the UMAC
The amendments to the ICAC and the UMAC Rules are the response to the introduction of the martial law in Ukraine and acute need to enhance the efficiency of the ICAC’s procedures under new external circumstances.
The amended Rules of the ICAC and the UMAC in particular define digital communication as the principal means of communications between the parties and arbitrators, and simplify the procedure of conducting virtual oral hearings.

The amendments to the Rules were approved by the Decision of the Presidium of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine No. 9 (3.2) came into force as of 1 July 2022.
- The initiative of the ICAC and the UMAC on launching mediation services for resolving disputes involving foreign economic activities is approved
Following the trend of expansion of the application of mediation in international disputes, the Presidium of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine approved the initiative of the ICAC and the UMAC to launch mediation services for resolving disputes involving foreign economic activities as well as disputes, arising out of commercial seafaring.
The ICAC and the UMAC are invited to make respective decisions. The institutions are currently finalizing the development of the Rules on Mediation and the Recommendatory List of Mediators.
